Practice GP Registrars
College Way Surgery is fortunate to be qualified as a training practice. This means that there is usually an additional doctor working in the practice.
This doctor will have had extensive experience in hospital medicine and will normally spend a year with us gaining experience in family medicine.
Nurses and Health Care Assistants
We employ five part-time practice nurses, a phlebotomist and two health care assistants. Also working in the surgery are health visitors and a midwife who are employed by Somerset Partnership.
Our practice nurses are available by appointment for advice about any health matters, immunisations, family planning, dressings and ear syringing. They carry out blood pressure checks, ECGs, cervical smears, and health checks for the elderly, newly registered patients and patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or high blood pressure.
Please note that blood tests ordered by your doctor are carried out by our phlebotomist in a separate clinic, not by practice nurses, so please specify your requirement when booking an appointment
Practice team
Reception staff
Our reception team book appointments with the doctors and practice nurses and will do their best to answer any queries that you may have. Sometimes they may have to ask you for further details in order to assess how best to help you. Please help them by being as concise as you can about your requirements.
All our surgery staff will respect your privacy and are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.
The reception team also run our repeat prescription lines.
Our Reception Manager is Mrs Charlotte Fry
Medical Secretaries
Our secretaries provide the secretarial back-up for the doctors as well as maintaining over 13,000 medical records. There may be occasions when they are able to answer your query on referrals or hospital admissions without your needing to speak to the doctor, however if you need to speak to the secretaries please do not telephone before 10:30am.
Practice Manager
The Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice. If you have a complaint, criticism or suggestion please ask at reception to speak to her. Your views are always welcome and help us provide the best possible service to our patients.
Our Practice Manager is Mrs Judith Kassapian
