Overseas visitors

People from abroad are eligible for free treatment on the NHS in the case of an emergency. Broadly, this means that if, in the opinion of the GP, your condition requires emergency treatment you will not be charged for a consultation with the GP.

If you require treatment or medication for a pre-existing condition you will be charged a fee, which then should be claimed back via your insurance company.

Please note that these conditions also apply to British nationals living abroad.

If you are in the area for less than 24 hours and have an accident you can receive emergency treatment at this practice.

Please note the surgery is not an accident and emergencies department and in the event of an injury the patient should be taken straight to a hospital in Taunton or Yeovil.

To contact a Doctor or Nurse at this Surgery please contact us.

Registering online as a non-English speaker

You can find guidance and advice on how to become a new patient and the NHS healthcare services you can access, if your first language is not English, or if you’re an asylum seeker on the Government website.

Go to the NHS entitlements migrant health page on the Government website.

Registering as a temporary patient

If you are away from home, you can register as a temporary patient with College Way Surgery for a period of 24 hours up to 15 days, or between 15 days and three months. This will allow you to use our surgery and still remain a patient at your permanent GP surgery. After three months, you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with us.

You can register as a temporary patient at College Way Surgery by attending the surgery in person to complete our temporary registration form.

Please provide photographic ID and proof of the address within our catchment area that you are staying at (e.g. if staying with a friend or relative please provide a recent utility bill confirming their address).

Registering children

Children under 16 need to be registered by their parent or guardian. You can do this by completing the online registration form on their behalf.

Registering after leaving the Armed Forces

When registering for the first time after leaving the Armed Forces, please complete our standard new patient registration form and provide your FMED 133 Document (required to authorise release of your medical records from Defence Medical Services).
